We will be continuing with Bonding, Counting atoms and balancing equations. We will also be doing a density lab this week.
This is the final week of the 3rd quarter. Turn in any missing assignments by Thursday. Students will take Unit 6 Investigation 7 Common Assessment on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
Following the assessment we will begin Atoms and the Periodic Table. See google classroom for daily agenda and assignments. 8th graders went to the Air and Space Center as part of our SOL Review. We wrapped up Solubility, Solutions and students will test this coming week prior to moving on to Atoms and Periodic Table.
Be sure to check google classroom for daily agenda and assignments. CSA Test will be administered the week of Jan. 14. This week we are wrapping up Mystery Mixture Investigation, going over Mixture, Element, Compound. We will also discuss physical and chemical changes as well as Phase Change/States of Matter.
This week we learned what is Work and Power. We reviewed Simple Machines. Students also were assigned Work and Power Calculation worksheet. Several students have not finished this and should finish as homework and turn in prior to break.
Last week the students learned to calculated speed and acceleration and about Newton's Three Laws of Motion. Monday and Tuesday our Bell Work will be on Newton's Laws of Motion we will then work on Simple Machines and review for the Common Assessment. Students will take a Common Assessment on
Wednesday and Thursday. The Common Assessment will include Energy, Speed/Acceleration, Newton's Laws of Motion and Simple Machines (work and power) This week we will work on Speed, Velocity and Acceleration. By the end of the week we will begin Newton's Laws of Motion.
Common Assessment next week to include: Potential/Kinetic Energy, Speed/Velocity/Acceleration, Newton's 3 Laws of Motion, Work/Power and Simple Machines. Monday is an early release day. Tuesday is no school for students.
This week we will practice Metric Conversions, complete a reading on Energy (generating electricity using renewable and nonrenewable resources). Other topics for this week include: speed and acceleration, Newtons Laws of Motion. On Monday October 29 Blue day students completed the 1st Quarter CSA. Tuesday and Wednesday we completed a Metric Measurement Lab. On Thursday and Friday students were provided materials then designed and conducted their own experiments.
